Family Eye Care

The American Optometric Association recommends yearly eye exams for adults to ensure the early detection and diagnosis of vision changes or problems and to help maintain overall eye health. For more information, check out our Eye Exams page.

The American Optometric Association recommends that children receive a complete vision exam at 6 months, 3 years, and 5 years, then yearly evaluations once they enter school.

We advise patients to bring the following during your appointments at Chan Eye Care, PLLC:

• For glasses wearers: all pairs of eyeglasses you or your child wears on a routine basis

• For contact lens wearers: contact lenses along with contact lens solution, case, and boxes

• A list of all prescription or non-prescription medications you or your child are currently taking, including vitamins and supplements

• A pair of sunglasses, in case we need to perform a dilated eye exam

• A list of questions you would like to discuss with the eye doctor

• Your health insurance card

Vision insurance covers basic vision products and services such as routine eye exams, eyeglasses, and contacts. If you don’t have vision insurance, most medical insurance also covers treatment for eye diseases and accidents as well as eye exams for patients with medical issues that may affect vision or eye health.
